Top Fishing Hotspots and Tips for a Successful Day on Lake Tawakoni

Fishing at Lake Tawakoni has been excellent this month, with anglers experiencing strong catches across a variety of species. The water temperatures are rising, making for ideal conditions for Blue Catfish and Channel Catfish. Both species are active, with anglers seeing a steady bite throughout the lake, especially in deeper waters.

Catfish fishing remains productive, with bottom fishing techniques and heavy tackle proving successful for larger catches. The Blue Catfish are averaging around 5 to 10 pounds, with some reaching up to 20 pounds in deeper sections of the lake. Channel Catfish have been more abundant in shallow waters, especially around submerged structures and creek mouths.

Crappie fishing has slowed down slightly due to warmer water temperatures, but there are still plenty of fish to be caught near submerged timber and brush piles. Anglers have had success using jigs and live bait, particularly in the mornings and late afternoons when fish are most active.

Overall, Lake Tawakoni remains a prime destination for fishing enthusiasts, with plenty of action to be had for both seasoned anglers and beginners. If you’re planning a fishing trip, be sure to book your charter early—this hotspot is popular and the fishing is only going to get better as the summer season progresses.

Tip of the Month: When fishing for Blue Catfish, consider using cut bait or live bait on the bottom, especially during the warmer months when catfish tend to be deeper in the water column.

Happy fishing and tight lines!
